For doing anything, I like the just for one day approach.
For example in breaking a bad habit or cultivating good ones--
It helps me to ask the Greater Good to help me do things that I resist. And I don't care if the help comes from within or without me-- The main thing is-- that help does come as I keep on turning my face to the good and to the Better Way... I can do it just for one day-- tomorrow I get to take back all my crappy attitudes-- That is, IF I really want them!
May I go for something Better-- Just for this day!!!
