Don’t be shocked-- though thousands were-- on social media earlier this month. This “dead whale” is made of plastic debris found in the ocean, made to increase awareness on ocean pollution in response, in part, to the 30 beached whales found on seashores last year.
Protest, I know-- or at least truth- telling-- has a place and is needed (perhaps) to help heal the world’s injustice, but more heartening to me are the positive and creative reactions such as these. Even my own local Surfrider is involved in reusing and recycling the nasty waste into art, cleaning up debris and creating statements of heart & beauty from the rubble...

"YOU CAN KILL ME IF YOU LIKE.. but you cannot stop the emancipation of women!" That's what Tahirih said after she threw off her veil in 1848 Persia.
Here's more of that inspiring story.
In the end, they did put an end to this strong, amazing woman whose legacy continues. She lived at the convergence of two powerful faith teachings. So many wonders brought to earth started with amazing Masters such as she and the Ones who inspired her. She was battered, but it didn't stop her truth from flowing. For those who may reject the source of this great transformation, begun then and now continuing, I have no objection to that--it is the privilege of freedom!!
Community & Unity built on spiritual foundations
What other way is there to save this ailing world ? Its a vision of "an alternative society which is not based on greed and competition, but rather on cooperation and service to community members... spreading to a world-wide community mainly by actions of inspired youth." * The full version is here--- Now if that is not inspiring, what could be ?!! Its true that this is begun by a somewhat "organized religion", which is a bone to pick for many, This faith has been one that's so purposeful, unusual &inspired as to throw its resources to empower all humanity. There's no other group so highly motivated to let go of nature's strong attachments to its own, to its ownership of sources or promotion of its name. And that is truly happening! Surely the name and source are vital, but they are not the center-- Simply, if this world is to beunified and healed, then someone's got to start it, and pour into it their all !
I FOUND MYSELF thinking--
Just how great it is to be a part of the most healing, cutting edge, amazing movement ever on the earth!!! :)) I believe this is one small representative of that much bigger picture, opening a door to something hugely bigger ... Clearly its not be be- all, end- all-search for everyone, but truly, I (and most of us in this) believe it's the starting point of the biggest, healthiest transformation ever to captivate & motivate the people of the world. For those who would investigate it, there is much support for that. For those who don't, well only time will tell. They live a more local life. 2. They create more vibrant, healthy communities. 3. They use human powered transport, avoiding the isolation of the auto. 4. They have more connection to the natural world. 5. They prune their choices, making life easier, simpler, more spaciously. 6. They are less materialistic, putting attention where it matters more. 7. They often engage in more enjoyable pursuits than shopping, spending, custody of stuff, etc. 8. Personal development often is prioritized in the simple life, often with more time to put to that effort. 9. "We Got This" actually does something about getting people to get together in positve projects. - among other things, in their central city garden.
It all starts with the mental, and next, the physical -- fun stuff too-- Then your "atmosphere" or surroundings, your space, etc. -- Nothing too serious but u get there. Dont forget the plants & flowers! Goals and doing service-- it makes u feel good-- plus just doing what makes u feel good that can benefit the outer life & people...-- how wise!! What a cute, smart gal, fun, smart advice-- Courageous too, to just jump in there casual- like & put it out there. She has quite a following too with the youth.
One person wrote-- Honestly, you’re a blessing. I feel soothed whenever I watch any of your videos. You bring a whole wave of positivity into my world-- Thank you so much!??????

Link Here. http://www.unityandsoul.com/truthseeker-docs.html CONTEMPLATIVE PRACTICES include: Creative Practices, Relational Practices,Ritual/Cyclical Practices, Stillness Practices, Generative Practices, Movement Practices, Activist Practices, & more Our practice is what we do each day. It can be our work, our prayer, our service, even our shopping, our spending or saving, our listening, social networking, t.v. watching and the like. It is good practice to look at what we're doing from a higher sort of view or overview, asking: What do I practice? Are my practices in balance with my spiritual and other needs and those of the world as well? “Lethargy holds many people back from doing the things that lead to happiness.”
says Gregg Easterbrook, psychologist and researcher. He’s among the many who recognise that "It requires some effort to achieve a happy outlook on life, and most people don't make it. Most people take the path of least resistance. Far too many people today don't make the steps to make their life a more fulfilling one." Could it be that people are just too worn out to do the things it takes to be happy? Polls show Americans are no happier today than they were 50 years ago in spite of increases in prosperity, decreases in crime, cleaner air, bigger living quarters and a better overall quality of life." Yes, happiness IS an inside job. But it helps to have a minimum of needs met to begin with! As far as that is up to us, we can each one do a little and reach for something even better, because we can! "Psychological research has freed us to know that we can have happiness under many kinds of conditions, even the most difficult. Researchers may have recently handed the keys to happiness to the public, at least partially, but many people cling to their unhappiness and ways from habit, say the experts. These same experts say the the road towards more satisfying, happy and meaningful lives involves cultivating certain attitudes. Happy Habits & attitudes include knowing... On Happiness
For doing anything, I like the just for one day approach. For example in breaking a bad habit or cultivating good ones-- It helps me to ask the Greater Good to help me do things that I resist. And I don't care if the help comes from within or without me-- The main thing is-- that help does come as I keep on turning my face to the good and to the Better Way... I can do it just for one day-- tomorrow I get to take back all my crappy attitudes-- That is, IF I really want them! May I go for something Better-- Just for this day!!! The road toward a more satisfying, happy and meaningful life involves cultivating certain attitudes. Here are just a few for you to ponder.
GRATITUDE-- You may want to practice good attitudes, listing things for which you're grateful in your life. Daily, make a point to notice life's small pleasures and savor them. "If you are looking for something to complain about, you are absolutely certain to find it," says Gregg Easterbrook, And-- If you look for something to be happy about, you will also find it! FORGIVENESS-- forgive your enemies, or at least beging dealing withand dialing back anger towards those who thwart your goals. THOUGHTS-- Practice positive thinking or the negative will beat you to your brain and take you down. Seek support and positive friends that don’t support endless complaints without some healthy processing or resolution. HOME & HEART--put time and energy into friendships and family. The happiest people have strong friendships, says says, Ed Diener, a psychologist University of Illinois. SELF CARE-- Doing what makes us happy, for even 10 minutes a day, nurtures us and makes us feel worthwhile as well as happier. Self care, for me, means putting myself in a place that allows for love and Spirit to enter. SERVICE-- Do you know that virtue and altruism makes us happy! Happier, in fact, than many people know! Practice helping others within reason and random acts of kindness. As for Happiness-- Often we know what we should do for it--but sometimes we just don’t do it. Yet, when you think of the alternative of feeling crappy, you may just decide to do the better thing, of turning to a better attitude and feeling better too! |
