The word sin is suspect. For many it is loaded with negative connotations, guilt and shame due to heavy notions humans have added to it. The word actually means separation from god, truth, Spirit, Love, the Good or whatever you may call it, whatever you feel could be "Something Bigger" than our own humanity...
Adversity has benefits, actually--
It helps us Build Foundations for our Best Life
Used for our best good, it brings deeper self- knowing & authenticity-- prized and precious to so many.
Hard times bring us face- to – face with our weaknesses, our preciousness and our strengths. These challenges, when we turn to the Good, can help us to re-assess the basis of life, to grow in capacity, to become stronger, happier, freer and far more compassionate.
When we look at adversity with kind, accepting eyes, our whole attitude is changed-- and guess what? We become more comfortable with it. And our ability to react sanely, flexibly and with wisdom expands.
“One who fears adversity shall suffer fear.”
Suffering, Death, & Sin
A Loving way to look at things. One Mentor says that "Happiness is founded on spiritual behavior..." (Abdul Baha)
I believe that really is the purpose of all the Spiritual Masters-- to teach us to be truly happy, loving, free...
Our Human Family
Studies say kindness to others is highly connected to our own happiness. This makes sense, for we humans are social beings with a heritage that reads us as highly inter- dependent. A cave man abandoned by his clan quickly found himself to be in deep trouble. That inter-dependence may also be a part of why today, rejection is experienced so deeply that many would prefer physical pain!
Its this simple: Helping others makes us happier. It seems to be part of a healthy psychological reward system built into our DNA.
That may be why many are craving for a Healing that extends to all the World. It is in the human nature to love and share, and happiness studies bear this out as well.
Within reason, we are happiest when we share and give, and studies clearly show that helping others makes us happier. That is our spiritual nature.
- How sweet it is that our hearts are made to care so deeply for each other.
"Church Lady" was a popular character on Saturday Night Live in the 80's, famous for her saying ”Well, isn't that special?”. She said stuff like “We like ourselves an awful lot, don't we?” or “Isn't that conveeeenient?” And you bet she'd be warning us of the devil's work. When she brings it up the organ plays, thunder sounds, and the stage shakes as she twists her face up, saying ominously “Could it be...... SATAN ?!!!!!?!'
Church Lady is super- condescending and patronizing-- that's her shtick. Of course, everyone hates it. Sadly, there's good reason why that high and mighty attitude has been associated with religion. Putting negative judgments on others is so hurtful and divisive. It seems to be no less so when coming from religion than it is when coming from other sources such as spiritual rebels, naysayers and the like. I hope we can all begin to see and turn away from that smugness when it comes up in our own egos too. When it gets mixed up in spiritual matters, it gives off a bad smell that turns people off to spirituality. The cause of spreading Spirit and virtue again then falls behind. Materialism already runs the world-- what hope is there for Spirit? If we truly are spiritual and want to promote its growth, we must connect strongly with our unity and oneness in that area.

"Isn't that Special?" was a favorite line of Church Lady's The video gets stuck on the "Satan" part so just click off & click onto the 2nd clip which does that sem thing, but by then you've watched it all.
The second clip is of ChurchLady's “superior dance”, as she calls it, for when she comes out on top, which according to her is all the time!
This fella has alot on the ball-- love it! There's lots I Dont go with tho, like that it has to be either/ or-- Some people can love the best of both and get something valuable from both religion and spirituality.
Some people bring their own spirituality to religion and just take what they like of each, truly "creating their own religion, a spiritual religion. Religion
IS an empty show unless u bring your whole self, your thinking, love, creativity and and soul to it. If you do bring in your spirit- self and investigate before believing, there are those who can truly benefit and be nurtured in a healthy way by the experience and support.
