"We don't hate religion, we apply the tests of reason to it."

GodRebel Viewpoint - - Lucky's Story
by Lucky Joy Wells |
I've called myself a God-Rebel, a Truth-Seeker, spiritual but not religious. Abuses of the church angered and turned me off, but I'd not turned away from Spirit. Instead, I chose to take a deeper look into expressions of the soul for answers and for what healing may be had. There, I've found a lot of solace, and sharing it has been a help for others too.
Anger, Angst & Healing
I didn't want religion, but I'm not here to beat the drum of my own anger either. No matter how justified I may be in doing that, I see a world most desperate for a healing, and I believe that Spirit has some answers. The human plight of pain has meant to me that I must put the search for something Great and better above myself and all my old ideas. That trust in Something Higher as above my own puny concerns, perhaps, has guided me beyond what I could've ever known alone. When I put Spirit first, trusting that She ( or God or He or as you like it) will not betray me, I feel safe to step beyond my own existence and desires. And that, for me, has been where I've found many answers to my questions.
Trusting this, I know that all else I may need will come. And that is also very true, I think, in and for each one of us and for our needy, hurting world.

Choice-- The Human Gift
How good it is, and fun, to be "in charge" of one's own destiny! But the spiritual, who often know of "Something Bigger" than themselves (aka God or Spirit) may know that they, indeed, are NOT the ones in charge of everything! To be spiritual, to me, is to “go with the flow” of that Greater Will that knows so much more than I.
The faiths went wrong, and got on our wrong side as well, when they tried to tell us what to do, as in squelching our right to choose. A parent who knows better than a child will surely try to guide, but even 3 year- olds rebel against being told what they must do. Surely I don't want to think that I'm a child, but in the eyes of Higher Power, that may be exactly what I am! Still, the Higher Power I have come to know now gives me choices, along with the knowledge to make something good of them.
An Age of Maturation
Child or not -- as I may be in a Higher Power's view-- today a different story is in creation. It seems some faiths today are moving away from the old models. Church administration has grown to be much more inclusive, priests take a lesser role than ever (or none at all!) and faiths today will rarely fight each other over dogma or converts. My own path of faith tells me that humanity is in a maturation process over centuries of growth. We today, they say, are called to "see with our own eyes", to release old superstitions, to embrace science and investigate to find the truth for our own selves. There are a growing number of the modern ways and faiths that now refute and guard against much of the well- worn, man-made abuses that bring the churches low, making them divisive and destructive.
Most of us do Choose our Way, no matter what--
Religious or not, no matter what we say or think that we believe in,
it seems that most of us are just headstrong enough to pick and choose between what's known or taught, and that amounts to our creating in ourselves our very own beliefs and way of faith, , no matter what we profess to "follow"!
Even those who follow in a faith, that religion can be understood, interpreted or seen through their own personality or quirks, and in the end can look quite different for each believer. From this awareness and the growth of my own journey, I weave and share this blog in several voices, including that of Spirit Warrior Peace, sometimes as myself or a voice of comedy, including the famous/ infamous Church-Lady granny (of Saturday Night live 80's fame) who still treats me to her havoc as a demonstration that and can help me lighten up.
May I open to and offer a place for the dispossessed and all to seek in the healing quests of life and Spirit, God or Good. Join me if you will in this, for ourselves and for our world.
